What is a GAS TURBINE

A gas turbine, also known as a combustion turbine, is a type of internal combustion engine that converts the chemical energy of a fuel (usually gas or liquid fuel) into mechanical energy. It works by compressing and heating air and then mixing it with fuel in a combustion chamber. The resulting high-pressure and high-temperature gases expand through a turbine, which drives a generator to produce electricity or propels an aircraft or a ship.

Gas turbines are commonly used in power plants, aircraft, and ships because they have a high power-to-weight ratio, high efficiency, and can operate at high altitudes and high speeds. They can also start up quickly and have lower emissions compared to other types of fossil fuel power plants. However, gas turbines require a constant supply of fuel and air, which can limit their use in certain situations.
